A look back at the West Dunbartonshire property market in 2019

As the year is coming to a close and days seem to just fly by, we wanted to take stock of the ups and downs (but really mostly ups) of the property market in West Dunbartonshire.

All local markets have seen steady, resilient activity fuelled by buyers

All across West Dunbartonshire, we’ve seen steady activity. In Dumbarton, Clydebank, Old Kilpatrick, Balloch and beyond first, second time buyers are keenly looking for the right home. Due to affordable financing options from mortgage lenders, wishful buyers ignored bigger uncertainty and news headlines in the rush to find their next home. We have registered buyers in all demographics from first buyers to downsizers, with family homes proving especially popular for families who are looking for more space.

A lot of competition for well maintained properties in good decorative order

We live in the era of social media and Instagramable interiors and this trend can be seen in property sales too. Generally buyers are more interested in properties in good decorative order where they can see themselves moving without having to tackle major renovation projects. So it pays off to tackle the odd job and doing some staging work before putting your home on the market. Picture perfect interiors and curb appeal will attract more buyers and will create a good context to achieve a great selling price.

2019 has been a sellers’ market throughout

A trend continued from 2018 and even before is the clear lack of property for sale especially when compared to the demand. Still, Scotland has been in a privileged context compared to the rest of the UK, with the strongest increase in agreed sales of 3.7%, according to Rightmove.

We’ve seen many properties go to Closing Date and selling for or about Home Report value. All these are strong indicators that the local market favours sellers in general, which means home buyers must be prepared to move fast when the right home comes along.

Trusted by more homeowners than any other agent in West Dunbartonshire

We’ve been present on the local market and helping sellers and buyers achieve their property goals for over 30 years and the reputation we’ve slowly built by applying the same level of commitment to all properties big or small shows in the fact we are the biggest local agents in terms of available stock – according to property portal Rightmove stats between 1 November 2018 and 1 December 2019.

Lots of happy clients

We love to see all parties involved end their property journey in the best possible circumstances. Selling, buying or just moving home is a deeply personal time for all of us and we sometimes witness touching personal stories that never get shared because we feel very passionate about clients’ confidentiality. But 2019 has seen some very happy endings with people achieving their dreams of selling, buying and moving on the property market and we feel privileged to be a small part of that.
