Easy Christmas Gifts to Make With Kids

With the holiday season just around the corner, most families are already pondering about their presents list. To make the activity even more interesting, we have looked for a few easy DIY ideas that you can put into practice along with the kids.

Salt Dough Tree Decorations

Make a simple dough out of 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of salt and 1/2 cup of water. Mix the ingredients, roll the dough and cut shapes with a cookie cutter. You can simply press cute little fingers and toes in the dough before baking as a keepsake from baby’s first Christmas or, once baked, you can painted them with acrylics, add glitter or generally put your kids’ creativity at work! Don’t forget to put a hole at the top of the ornament so once it’s baked and decorated it can be hanged in the tree with a ribbon.

Printed Canvas Bags

A simple crafty idea that grandma will cherish every time she goes shopping! Buy simple canvas bags and let the children create simple paint pattern with a shape carved out of a potato. Apples work too. Use fabric dye and follow instructions to make sure the design sticks permanently. Easy peasy!

Rock Paperweights

To add an outdoor excursion to this activity, you can go to a park outside to gather some hard, round rocks. Once the hunt is over, you can come back in to wrap them up with exuberant fabrics or brightly colour them with paint. Once the rock is covered, it will look wonderful and a true piece of art.
